When did you start teaching at CCR and how did you end up here?
I was first introduced to CCR  on an NCRA visit. Once I saw the curriculum, and how CCR was turning out the most prepared reporters in the country, I wanted to be a part of it.  I emailed Janet in 2012 to see she had any openings, and I started soon after.  It was the best decision I have made!

What is your favorite thing about teaching?
My favorite part of teaching is the, "Ah-hah!" moments!  When a student's hard work finally pays off and they see the progress, finally, that they have been trying to achieve.  There is nothing better than calling a student to  tell them to check their email because they passed that test that has been eluding them for so long!

What is the best advice you ever received as a student?
When I was a student, Dennis Hagestrom, who was a fabulous reporter told me to always fall back on literary.  When I was stuck on Q and A, practice lit; when I needed help with accuracy, practice lit; when I needed speed, practice lit.  He was a big believer in building a strong foundation in writing.  Practicing literary helps you conquer anything that may come your way.

What do you want people to know about Court Reporting?
I want people to know how important court reporters are, and that we aren't going anywhere in the near future.  If you are willing to work hard and strive to put out a good work product, there is money to be made.
